About 10,000 residents of Gwoza town and villages in Borno State have fled to neighboring Adamawa state and the Republic of Cameroon as a result of the ongoing military operations in an effort to recapture the affected areas from the captivity of the outlaw Boko Haram.

However, a confirmed report from NEMA and local officials said many of the displaced persons were still trapped on hilltops and stranded without food or water.

Speaking in a telephone chat with Journalists on Sunday, the North east zonal coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mal. Mohammad Kanar confirmed that many people in their thousands are displaced by the attack of suspected Boko Haram members.

"I can confirm to you that over 10,000 displaced Gwoza residents have fled to neighboring Adamawa and Cameroon".
