Cameroon has joined the international community to celebrate the 11th International Day Against Corruption with a call on Cameroonians to join hands against the phenomenon.

The day, 9th December, was set aside to raise awareness on corruption which is said to be largely responsible for injustices and slow economic growth.

On the occasion, the President of the National Commission for the Fight against Corruption, Dieudonne Massi Gams granted a press conference in Yaounde to raise awareness on the phenomenon which affects every sector of Cameroon.

In his appeal to the different strata of the Cameroonian public on the day, Dieudonne Massi Gams said, ”On this December 9, 2014 as we celebrate the 11th international day against corruption, we make an appeal to the cross section of the Cameroonian society, to the administration, through anti-corruption units in various ministries, public corporations, to the private sector, to the civil society, transporters, farmers, animal herders commercial motorcyclists, taxi drivers and ‘buyam sellams’: let’s all say no to corruption where ever we are and in whatever way we serve our nation.”

Charts, books, photos and flyers are used to raise awareness on corruption. In the meantime suggestion boxes will also be placed in Ministries for denunciation to break the corruption chain.
