130k jobs created by June 30, 2014 to fight unemployment

Mr. Zacharie Perevet, Minister of employment and vocational training and André Fotso, President of GICAM, presided over the 1st thematic meeting of ONEFOP Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in the conference room of the GICAM under the theme 'contribution of employer organizations in the monitoring of employment'.

This meeting was part of consultations undertaken by the MINEFOP through the ONEFOP (National Observatory for employment and vocational training), for the semi-annual production of the results of the surveys on employment. This is mainly to involve employers in the process of gathering information on the number of jobs created, in order to enrich the aggregates of the economy in terms of job creation, in accordance with the OCSG.

Present at this meeting, in addition to employers like GICAM and ECAM, the Professional Union of hoteliers Governments and other actors in charge of employment issues, like the FNE and the GICAM member companies.

In his welcoming remarks, the president of the GICAM recalled the belief of the group which is to mobilize all the players to win at least one point of growth a year, to achieve a two-digit growth rate and put Cameroon on the way to the emergence.

To do this, he recalled that in the question of employment, the 100 proposals of the GICAM for the emergence of Cameroon, is an important lever to activate. In addition, he noted that the involvement of the private sector in the development of training among other programs is a necessity.

According to GICAM, commitment and involvement in the support of the public authorities in the design of the project of construction of professional training centres sector is a perfect illustration.

Minister of employment and vocational training noted that the commitment of Governments to translate the relevant provisions of the OCSG as regards employment, is illustrated by the implementation of the resolutions of the world employment pact in 2010.

Indeed, the commitments of Governments to this forum consisted of acts with a view to: facilitation and support the private sector actors who create the wealth and jobs, support of the various actors involved in training, the regular holding of employment statistics.

Which led to the establishment by the Government of the ONEFOP (National Observatory for employment and vocational training). This instrument's main mission is implementing the commitments made by the State through the conduct of administrative investigations with national companies. With the technical support of the INS, such investigations lead to the accounting of the number of jobs created annually.

With regard to the year 2014, the statement from the Minister indicated that 130,000 jobs were created in June 30, representing a rate of achievement of 104% over the forecast.

The second joint of the meeting allowed to follow the statement of the Coordinator of the Technical Secretariat of the ONEFOP. Mr. Ignacio Ignacio thus returned to the procedure that frames the field investigations, the current state of the investigation, the need for companies learn the cards at their disposal and a few recommendations.

As administrative inquiry, the compendium of information on employment is made with technical support from the National Institute of statistics. Forms are thus sent to the MINEFOP regional delegates, who undertake to distribute to different administrations and businesses.
