18-year-old man commits suicide

Romuald Matouk, 18, was found dead after he hanged himself in his room, at Mokolo 2 in Bertoua on January 17.

Relatives quizzed on his death could not explain exactly what led him to commit suicide.

According to his neighbours, the deceased returned from Church showing no signs of disturbance emotionally so they cannot categorically state why he decided to end his life.

However, it was revealed that not long ago, he had had a discussion with his girlfriend and the tutor of the latter. In the encounter, the tutor threatened to let him face the law if he does not put an end to the relationship he had with the girl.

Relatives are said to have met the lifeless body Romuald in his room but noted that prior to his death he was in good health condition. The police visited the scene and have opened an investigation on the case. They are thus looking for the tutor and the girlfriend of Romuald for questioning. His body has been taken to Bertoua regional hospital mortuary
