Pupils and students nationwide have resumed classes for the 2015 / 2016 academic year.
Blue, green, white and grey were the dominant colours across the streets as children resume classes on 7th September 2015, after a close to three months period of holiday.
In most schools, classes have effectively started with many students and teachers also present.
While some students exchange warm hugs and tell each other about the holiday experience, others are still timid and yet to join the classroom discussion.
This is the case at the nursery section in most schools. It is the first time children are leaving their parents and guardians. While some of them started off the day crying, others, still to understand why they are in school spent the morning sleeping.
In the Adamawa Region, the new school year effectively started though some parents are facing the challenges of the unavailability of textbooks.
In the Far North Region, officials say classes effectively started with the Minister of Basic Education launching the school year in the region.
The Governor of the West Region and some Regional Delegates were on the field to assess the effectiveness of the resumption of classes in the region.
Reports from the East Region indicate that most students and teachers were in school early in the morning with officials from the Ministry of Basic Education deployed all over the region.
In the South West and North West regions which play host to several boarding schools, the resumption of classes was effective and hitch-free. After a tour of some public and private schools in Yaounde, the Secretary General at the Ministry of Basic Education, Prof Ivo Leke Tambo was happy with the turnout and the respect of security measures.
As the new school year begins, many students are poised to perform better this year.
