Cameroonians and the international community are this March 22, 2016, commemorating World Water Day under the theme, “Water and Jobs”.

The theme focuses on how water can change the lives of those working with as well as those using it.

According to www.unwater.org, almost half of the world's workers work in water related sectors and nearly all jobs depend on water and its safe delivery.

In spite of such statistics, those who work with water are not often acknowledged or protected by labour rights.

The day is an opportunity to learn about water-related issues and encourage others to join in preserving water.

World Water Day was instituted in 1992, and its first observance was in 1993.
