2016 week of Bilingualism launched

The 11th edition of the National week of Bilingualism and the 13th Edition of the National Day of Bilingualism has been launched under the theme: “Bilingualism, a gate way to quality Education for a Sustainable Development.”

The day was launched in Yaounde by the Minister of Secondary Education Jean Ernest Bibehe Ngalle at the Government Bilingual High School Mbalngong in the Mefou and Akono Division of the Centre Region.

The event which is organized every first Friday of February focuses on sensitizing students on the importance of Bilingualism and the great role it plays in National integration.

The Minister of Secondary Education Jean Ernest Bibehe Ngalle during the occasion called on students to be intentional in their pursuit of bilingualism which to him is an instrument for National Unity and integration.

The day was also marked by some thrilling presentations through poems, sketches songs, as student strived to showcase their skills in Bilingualism.

The ceremony which has been jointly organized by the Ministries of Secondary and Basic Education will be closed on 5th February, 2016 at the Presbyterian Secondary School Nkwen in the North West Region by the Minister of Secondary Education.

Meanwhile the Secretary of State for Secondary Education in charge of Teacher Training will close the week in Government Bilingual High School Ngousso in the Centre Region and then the Minister of Basic Education Youssouf Hadidja Alim will be in Limbe to close the bilingualism week.
