21 suspected criminals arrested in Akwa

The suspects fell into the nets of the Bonanjo research brigade Friday.

A tour in the Catholic cemetery and the nearby Mbappe Lepe Stadium at the Akwa district, carried out on December 12 by the research brigade of Bonanjo-Douala gendarmerie forces, allowed them to get their hands on 21 suspicious individuals.

The operation, led by Commander Samuel Mengue, also allowed them to capture, during searches, daggers, a machete and nearly a kilo of Indian hemp. They made this around midday, during which the alleged criminals were found mostly lying on cemetery graves, some smoking hemp and others sleeping, surely waiting for rush hour to operate.

This operation is the result of several months of investigation. Originally, cases of rape, theft and physical assault have proliferated the area adjacent to the cemetery and the stadium. Forcing the officials of the St Peter and Paul Cathedral, St Jérôme University officials, Saker bakery and the various companies of the Pmuc building, to notify the authorities and forces of order.

This state of insecurity affect faithfuls coming to mass, the bakery customers and workers in the building who parked their vehicles and found them broken and emptied of their contents. The students of St-Jérôme are also victims when they finish classes at 10 pm or 11 pm and find themselves at the mercy of the outlaws.
