The Director of Research Institute for Development RID has identified the need for more improved Meteorological equipment for Cameroon to brave the challenges emerging from climate change.

Bruno Bordage was speaking during a press briefing organized by the Research Institute for Development RID, ahead of the 21st Edition of the UN Climate Change Conference in France.

During the close to two hours forum which brought together press men from both the private and Public Media and the French Ambassador to Cameroon Christine Robichon, pressmen were urged to be creative in carrying out coverages pertaining to the environment, and most especially the forthcoming 21st edition of the climate change conference in France.

It was also revealed that Cameroon just like many countries around the world is a victim of climatic hazards. The droughts and floods in the Far North Region and the current floods in Douala are some glaring evidences according to the Director of RID.

Some of the ways of handling the challenge like the Director said was to reinforce the campaign of tree-planting and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

The UN Climate Change Conference which begins this 30th November to December 11, 2015, will bring together country representatives worldwide to decide on the legal binding and universal agreement on the climate.
