A total of 270.000 candidates will be taking part in the 2014 Baccalauréat Exams throughout the national territory.

This information was made known by the Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC).

The written test is to enable meritorious candidates to gain admission into the University or higher institution. It is a French exams equivalent to the English speaking Cameroon exams GCE Advanced Level.

It should be noted that, sometime in 2003, it was reported that some students in Cameroon decided to sit the same exams in neighbouring countries like Chad and Gabon whose certificates are considered more credible than Cameroon's because of the catastrophic results in Francophone public exams.

In reaction to this, the oral part was aborted in recent years due to so many reports of fraud and corruption.
