The Statistical Yearbook containing the 2014 data on employment and vocational training was officially presented by Minister Zacharie Pérevet Thursday in Yaounde.
The Statistical Yearbook of employment and vocational training is a 74-page document which helps to have a precise and detailed idea on the areas of General competences of the Ministry of employment and vocational training (Minefop) inter alia, employment, training, orientation, professional integration and administration and budgeting of employment and vocational training made available.
For the Minister, Zacharie Pérevet who officially presented the document yesterday in Yaounde: "it is a tool to support planning, management, budgeting and decision aid”.
Observatoire national de l’emploi et de la formation professionnelle (Onefop), representatives of Governments, the technical partners of Minefop and the European Union welcomed the document with satisfaction.
In fact, the genesis of the development of the directory of employment dates back to 2010. It all started with the will of Minefop to have a new strategic instrument for the promotion of employment and the development of vocational training, to improve the efficiency of the labour markets. Over time, employment data were collected and processed with the support of the national Institute of statistics (Ins), the Onefop and the cell of forecasting and statistics studies.
At this embryonic stage, it was revealed that 283,443 jobs were created in 2014. "The directory will serve as a basis on which the statistical yearbooks of employment and training products will rest starting this year and well beyond," explained Samuel Inack Inack, technical Secretary of the Onefop. Minefop has, meanwhile, wished to see the production of the document become perennial to contribute significantly to a better steering of employment in Cameroon.
