Three Vietnamese working for the mobile operator, Viettel, narrowly escaped an abduction on the night of 24 to 25 August 2014 to Bourha, chief town of the same district in Mayo-Tsanaga Department.
According to security sources, gunmen infiltrated the town and headed to where the Vietnamese slept.
The custodian of the places gave the alert, thereby mobilizing security forces and people around. The gunmen then fled and crossed the border to seek refuge in neighbouring Nigeria.
The Vietnamese have been put under strong protection of the military after this incident and an investigation has been opened to look into the matter.
