Some three thousand Nigerian refugees who ran away from Boko Haram exaction in North East Nigerian and sought refuge in Cameroon have decided to voluntarily return to their country.
They are the third group so far to return to their homes in Nigeria under the escort of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR.
The refugees have expressed gratitude to the Cameroon government for making them feel at home while away from home especially during such trying moments.
Some of them, however, regret going back to areas where there are still pockets of militants of the terrorist group Boko Haram that forced them to flee to safety earlier.
Despite the recent sporadic suicide attacks in Fotokol and in neighbouring Chad, the refugees are upbeat of their security especially during the journey which will be made under the surveillance of the elite corps of Cameroon’s defence forces.
