37 billion set aside to rehabilitate Songloulou, Edea and Lagdo hydropower plants

The work which features in the outline of the investment plan of eneo for the year 2015, is valued at 37.7 billion F.

Eneo Cameroon SA, the electricity company is currently in talks with four local banks. Objective of these negotiations, mobilize the sum of 16.2 billion. The four banks have been selected among nine having made offers to the company.

"The 16.2 billion will be available as early as January 2015", noted Wilfred Ntuba, financial director at eneo. Since the last Board of Directors of the company held 02 December in Yaounde, mandate was given to the Director-general to raise this money from a consortium of local banks.

Indeed, those resources that will be mobilized from local banks will be used to finance the investment of eneo for the year 2015, a 37.7 billion investment plan. In this envelope, the intake of Eneo amounted to 21.5 billion.

Almost half of the investment, or 43% of the 37.7 billion mobilized for 2015 by eneo will be injected into the production and transport of electricity. 37% of these resources will go to the work of strengthening the distribution network.

The commercial and media activities should consume 20% of the investment. In detail, in relation to production, noted Peter Nkeih, technical central Director, the company plans to spend 10 billion f work which will focus on the rehabilitation and the securing of the hydroelectric power plants of Songloulou (276 MW), Edea (384MW) and Lagdo (72 MW).

Maintenance work are also planned to increase the availability of power plants thermal (Limbe, Oyomabang1, Oyomabang 2, Logbaba, Bafoussam and Bassa).

Regarding distribution, improvements are also announced to reinforce and expand the backbone networks (lines average voltage) (leading the energy on the sources of distribution areas) and serving networks (lines low voltage allowing the dispatch of energy to households).

Yaoundé and Douala, wooden poles will be replaced by metal studs. In addition, new transformers will be also installed in secondary cities as Bafoussam, Guider, and Maroua. To limit the voltage drops and densify the network, at least 60,000 new customers will be connected by 2015.
