The Energy Company of Cameroon (ENEO), the concessionaire of the public service of electricity, plans to invest in the year 2015, nearly 38 billion CFA francs for the improvement of energy supply in Cameroon.
For this purpose, the property of the British Actis investment fund company is currently negotiating with four local banks, a loan of 16.2 billion CFA francs as early as January.
These funds will complement the envelope of 37.7 billion CFA francs whose funding of 21.5 billion CFA francs will be invested to improve the quality of service in the production, transport and distribution of electricity in Cameroon in 2015.
Out of this total amount, the company plans to spend 10 billion CFA francs in the work of rehabilitation of the hydroelectric power plants of Edea with an installed capacity of 384 megawatts (MW), Songloulou, 276 (MW), both in the Littoral and Lagdo (72 MW) in the North.
