The current social context in the region did not allow Elecam to achieve the objective of the anticipated 65000 new voters. The services of the regional delegation of Elections Cameroon (Elecam) were recently busy consolidating the latest figures sent by departmental agencies of Elecam.

Few days after the closing of the legal period for revision of the lists of electors, the northern region displayed 50 784 new registered voters. A figure that is far from the goal of 65,000 new voters to register as set by leaders of Elecam in the region.

In this update and grooming of the electoral file operation, the Department of Mayo-Tsanaga had the largest number of new registrants, 17,345 new registrants followed by the Diamaré, 9,918 and Mayo-Danay 7,417. Mayo-Sava ranks fourth with 6 252 new voters followed by Mayo-Kani totalling 5 163 new registrants. Logone and Chari closed process with a realization of 4,689 registered voters.

During this phase, men have registered the most accounting for 29,193 persons against 21,595 women.

According to the regional delegate of Elecam for north, Adji Massaou, this poor performance is mainly due to the insecurities that prevails in the region.
