A new judicial saga errupts at the Douala sea port

A week after Dayas Mounoume, ex-Dg of the Pad and his co-accused, a new group of four accused were presented recently to the CHT, they were all accused of complicity in the embezzlement of public funds and complicity.

The collegiality of judges was chaired by magistrate Yap Abdou surrounded by magistrates; Eloundou and Siwé. The first hearing, that of the opening of the procedure allowed the tribunal to identify the accused and the list of witnesses of the parties for the trial. At the request of the President, the Court Registrar proceeded and called out the accused and communicated their various indictment.

They accused Konguep Tchallé, age 45 consultant, Astadicko épse Daouda, 47 years old, accountant, Joseph Marie Ewang-53-year-old, accountant, of having in Douala, 2012-2013, obtained or fraudulently withheld the sum of 348.444.172 CFA francs belonging to the autonomous Port of Douala.

These facts are provided by and punishable under articles 74 and 184 of the Criminal Code. The fourth accused, Rosalie Ngayene épse Okala, 59 years, framework of Bank, is being prosecuted for complicity in embezzlement of funds.

The three co-defendants have been placed under provisional warrant since May 31, 2013. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. After this hearing of formalities, the next will take place 02 September 2014.
