AES- Sonel new Director General takes office in August

The new Managing Director of AES Sonel, Joel Nana Kontchou and his Deputy, Wilfred Ntuba, recently appointed by the Board of Directors of production, transport and distribution of electrical energy company, will take office in August and September, respectively, said a statement of this institution managed to PANA.

These appointments occurred at the end of a Board of Directors held Monday. Thus, Mr. Nana replaces Jean David Bile who has acted repeatedly as CEO of AES Sonel.

On May 23 in Yaounde, Actis, investment in emerging markets equity fund, signed an agreement on the purchase of the majority of the shares of AES Sonel to a maximum of $ 220 billion.

This agreement allowed Actis to acquire 56 per cent of the shares of AES Sonel and two independent power plants namely Kribi and Dibamba.

Joel Nana Kontchou is an engineering graduate from the École nationale supérieure polytechnique of Yaoundé in 1984.

He has worked in several companies in France, England and even in the United States.

At the time of his appointment, he was Managing Director of Schlumberger for Central Africa and the West.
