Geostrategy expert Victorien Hameni Bieleu has accused the Pan-African organization of violating the military agreement that binds it to Cameroon.

Having remained silent since the beginning of attacks by the Islamist sect Boko Haram, the African Union has finally decided to give its support to countries affected by this terrorist group (Cameroon, Nigeria); a decision which comes a little late according to Victorien Hameni Bieleu.

"The position taken by the African Union is a little late because this Boko Haram matter has been going on for many years now. The African Union and its Peace and Security Council should have taken action long ago and made contact with Cameroon to ascertain what to do at the continental level and at the subregional level," said the specialist on Radio Equinoxe. He criticized the non-respect for the military agreements that bind the Pan-African organization, as well as CEMAC Cameroon.

"At the level of the Central African sub-region, we have a collective defence pact which is the COPAC (Council for peace and security in Central Africa) with the FOMAC (Multinational Force of Central Africa) and now that we are at war against Boko Haram, nothing is being done. We don't see the COPAC nor the FOMAC being deployed on the ground to lend support to Cameroon," Hameni Bieleu said regrettably.

Our interviewer also spoke on the support promised Cameroon by Chad in the fight against Boko Haram. According to him, the President of the Republic would have gone to meet personally with the President of Chad instead of delegating Defence Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o.

"There is something unusual about the fact that the Minister of Defence is delegated to meet the President of Chad to talk about such a sensitive issue as the Boko Haram.

"It simply shows that there is no agreement between the presidents of the sub-region and in this case, between President Biya and President Déby and it's a pity", he said.
