Councils claiming income has been told to deploy representatives to all taxation services.

The first quarterly coordination meeting of treasury accountants of the Littoral I financial jurisdiction held in Douala yesterday.

The meeting stressed on the respect of accounting procedures, ethics and what was called 'the manipulation of public funds'. In his opening address, the Secretary General at the Littoral Governor's Office, Etienne Ludovic Ngbwa, lauded the fact that there has not been any case of embezzlement of State funds in the first quarter of the current year. Although claims to certain income by councils persist, he called on mayors to deploy representatives to all taxation offices who will be responsible for registering all council income while waiting for the modern information technology equipment to be set up to that effect.

The Chief of Service of Expenditure and Recovery, Agbor Eta Fobeneh, speaking on the Innovations of the 2013 Finance Circular, said following the promulgation into law of the 2013 Finance Law, the Minister of Finance signed a circular N°13/001/C/MINFI of January 8, 2013 laying down procedures for the execution, follow-up and control of the budget of the State, administrative, public establishments, regional and local authorities and subsidised bodies. She called upon all major actors and stakeholders to identify the innovation in the Finance Circular, so as to ensure its complete implementation.
