Agbor Tabi collapses in Buea

As slightly over FCFA 85 million was about being handed to the South West administration in Buea by elites of the region in support of the fight against Boko Haram, Peter Agbor Tabi, deputy Secretary General at the Presidency collapsed. Agbor Tabi crumbled like a log of wood right in the middle of the crowd, amongst his peers shortly after a solidarity walk in support of Cameroon’s defence forces against Boko Haram, April 18.

It is suggested that he may have been a little exhausted after the rally carried out from Buea Independence Square to the Governor’s Office on foot. The situation brought everything to a halt as an emergency car had to be brought in to rush him to Buea Regional Hospital Annex.

He was quickly followed to the hospital by some Manyu elites and close aids that had come in for the event. Sources at the hospital hinted that he suffered from fatigue after engaging in the solidarity walk and that all was okay as he was responding to first aid treatment.

The event At the rally, the South West Region officially handed over the sum of FCFA 85,846,525 to the Government of Cameroon as their financial support to the nation’s military combating the Islamist sect, Boko Haram. Apart from the financial support, food items such as Plantains, Egusi, Palm Oil and Cray Fish were also handed to the Government for transmission to the Northern Region.

The Money and the goods were officially handed by Peter Mafany Musonge to the Secretary General of the Governor’s Office in Buea, April 17. The elites came in their numbers from all over the country to show their support to the military and the commander in chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya.

Top Government officials, Ministers, Directors, General Managers of State Corporations and Institutions, Senators, Parliamentarians, Traditional Authorities, Religious leaders, the business community, youth groups, students and the civil society answered present for what was being termed a civic responsibility.

Welcoming the elites to Buea, the Mayor of Buea Council, Ekema Patrick Esunge, called on the living forces of the Region to take it as a challenge to contribute massively so that their contributions play an enviable role in the combat and eventual success in the crisis taking place up north.
