The daughter of Cameroon's First President, Ahmadou Ahidjo on September 6, 2013 in Yaounde said she has decided to join President Paul Biya's ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM because "it is the political party of progress, unity, peace and dialogue". Aminatou Ahidjo made the declaration after meeting with the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete in the presence of some senior party officials. Visible signs of her adherence to the New Deal policies, incarnated by President Biya was that Aminatou Ahidjo came already dressed in CPDM uniform and disclosed that her CPDM membership was issued by the party's cell President in Garoua.

Talking to the press after the discussions, Aminatou Ahidjo said, she came to inform the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee of her decision to join the CPDM. She said the vision of President Paul Biya, who rules Cameroon with wisdom and effectiveness, have attracted her to join the party. She added that she was coming towards the President of the Republic because the latter is the man towards who all converge and also in gratitude to President Biya's warm reception when she expressed the desire to come back to Cameroon.

"President Biya whom I consider as my father enabled me came back to my country and regained my Cameroonian citizenship." Paul Biya, she stated, is a man of peace, has a rallying force and is a humanist who seeks progress and the wellbeing of all Cameroonians. She disclosed that she found Cameroon united, with citizens focused on the future, with the country attaining an emergence status by 20 as the ultimate goal.

Responding to questions on memories of strained past relations, she said the future is made up of the past and present. The future, she said was the loyalty and whole-hearted support to the policies of President Paul Biya. She promised to campaign for the victory of the CPDM lists in the September 30, 2013 twin legislative and municipal elections. She promised to serve the Head of State and Cameroon faithfully because President Biya trusted her and gave her the honour to serve the country.
