All Rushing to Nominate Candidates

Political party officials are rushing to nominate candidates to respect the March 14 deadline.

CPDM

Candidates who submitted the files for nomination by the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM are anxiously waiting for the decision of the National Nomination Committee, headed by the party's National President, Paul Biya.

SDF

The Social Democratic Front, SDF Investiture Committee will meet at the party headquarters in Bamenda today, March 13 to nominate the party's candidates for the April 14, 2013 election of Senators, the SDF National Communication Secretary, Beatrice Annembom said yesterday, March 12. The party National Chairman, Fru John Fru Ndi is expected to chair the committee meeting. All candidates vying for the elections on the SDF ticket had up to 4:00 p.m. yesterday, March 12 to submit their files to the Secretary General, Elisabeth Tamajong for onward transmission to the Investiture Committee. Beatrice Annembom disclosed that the SDF will be contesting for senators in nine out of the 10 regions of the country with the only exception being the East. The National Executive Committee, NEC of the SDF will meet on Saturday, March 16, in Bamenda to draw up campaign strategies, she disclosed.

NUDP

The National Nomination Commission of the National Union for Democracy and Progress, NUDP will today, March 13, 2013 complete the list of its candidates for the election of Senators. The Assistant National Communication Secretary of the NUDP, Kuma Peter Kombain, told Cameroon Tribune that the Commission chaired by the Vice President of the Central Committee, Mongoleon Diabelle has been meeting all day long to come up with credible candidates. By yesterday, the NUDP was ready to run for Senate elections in seven of the 10 regions of the country. The regions that were not concerned were the South, South West and West, Kombain Peter disclosed. He further said, the party was counting on its political friends in the different regions of the country.

CDU

Dr Adamou Ndam Njoya's Cameroon Democratic Union, CDU will only run for the election of Senators in the West Region. Information disclosed by the party's National Communication Secretary, Ahidjo Mongwat indicated that the party has already nominated its candidates. He said Mefire Zakari is heading the list of CDU candidates for the election of Senators in the West. He further said that the party is already working on campaign strategies, with preference on campaign of proximity.
