A two-day regional workshop to train public officials on human rights protection has ended in Yaounde.
The workshop organised by the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF) and the Network of African Human Rights Institution ran through 17th to 18th November 2014.
During the reunion, the Chairman of the NCHRF, Dr Chemuta Divine Banda called on the participants from all 43 member countries of the network to lay emphasis on laws which prohibit torture in all its forms.
Other forms of ill-treatment were also identified and deliberated upon.
At the close of the meeting this 18th November 2014, the human rights experts resolved to involve and train local bodies especially law enforcement personel, in the fight against torture.
