Michael Stephen Hoza, was received in audience by the head of State on Friday, April 17, 2015. This meeting allowed the two officials to revisit the fruitful cooperation between Yaounde and Washington in the areas of security and economy.
At the end of the interview with the President of the Republic, Ambassador Michael Hoza spoke to the press, expressing appreciation for the opportunity that was offered to him by the head of State to review the cooperation between the United States and Cameroon. A partnership he held strong and which continually strengthens.
Politically, Washington welcomes Cameroon's stability in the sub-region. With regard to security, the American diplomat said that his country provides multifaceted support to the Cameroonian defense forces.
The United States provide significant support to Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram, including intelligence. This support has been highly appreciated by the head of State in January before the diplomatic corps accredited to Cameroon.
The Cameroonian army, said the American diplomat, benefits from American expertise by specific training and the strengthening of the capabilities of the soldiers in combat strategy, control of the use of equipment and advanced techniques of securing the borders.
Ambassador Michael Hoza reported that Cameroonian troops enjoy at this time of training within the framework of the peace in Central African Republic peacekeeping operation.
This successful partnership is also developing in the field of maritime safety and in the fight against poaching. Finally, the United States and Cameroon work to strengthen their economic and trade relations.
