Anglophone lawyers seek separation from 'La Republique'

Cameroon Anglophone Lawyers have hinted that an All Anglophone Lawyers will hold a conference soon in Bamenda, the chief city in the North West region.

Our source gathered that the conference is to develop strategies to safeguard the Common Law and also to map out the way forward for the Southern Cameroons territory.

Our reporter in Yaoundé who contributed to this report observed that a major campaign has been launched to drum up support from all Common Law practitioners deep within Southern Cameroons and also in La Republique.

Cameroon Concord understands that the CPDM crime syndicate has harsh and a diabolic plot geared towards stifling the Common Law system in Cameroon.

The Bamenda meeting will provide a rare opportunity for the Anglophone Lawyers to sound a note of caution to the government to respect the bi-jural nature of Cameroon or face severe consequences.

Speaking to the media recently, Eta Bissong, former Bar Council President revealed that "The President of the General Assembly of the Bar and the President of the Bar Council do not speak for lawyers with a Common Law background".

Barrister Harmony Bobga was also quoted as saying, "The struggle of the Anglophone Lawyers is to preserve the Anglophone identity from completely being wiped out".

A reliable source told this reporter that the Cameroon Anglophone Lawyers conference may take place between April 29 and May 2.
