Another Boko Haram attack in the Far- North

Several weapons and ammunition have been taken from the Far North brigade in Zina by Boko Haram attackers after wounding the policeman on duty.

The Zina police, in the Logone and Chari districts, were visited lately at night by an armed band of the Islamist sect.

According to security sources, the gang of about thirty people on board motorcycles and heavily armed brigade arrived in Zina around 2 am.

Islamists first surrounded the residence of the Sub-Prefect of the district before launching assaults on the brigade.

The policemen who were on duty tried to respond but could not resist digitally to their overwhelming visitors. During the exchange of gunfire, a sergeant of the Cameroonian army was shot in the back and foot.

After having dominated the police, the attackers opened the door of the cell and extracted three of their comrades who were there. Other inmates took advantage of this wind of freedom to escape.

According to the initial report, several fals (light automatic rifle), automatic pistols and ammunition were carried by these outlaws.

Before leaving Zina, the residence of the sub-prefect was completely ransacked and documents taken.

The Zina brigade attack comes just two months after the raid on Kousseri, where a chief warrant officer was killed and the second personality of Boko Haram released from the cell of the brigade by his comrades.
