Voting unfolded with serenity throughout the region with no major incidents.
After voting in last Sunday's first Senatorial elections in Cameroon, there is heated speculation on which party has carried the day. There were no major hitches as voting went on hitchfree in all the six divisional headquarters of the South West region. In Fako Division, the exercise got off at 8 am at the Government High School Limbe under the watchful eyes of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Mr. Zang III, the Regional Delegate of ELECAM, Emmanuel Njang, ELECAM Board Member, Dr. Mrs. Dorothy Njeuma, international observers, human rights organisations and the security.
In Kumba, it also started at 8:00 a.m on April 14, 2013 at the Government Primary School Kumba-Mbeng when some 144 Councilors from the five Councils in Meme Division took their turn one after the other to vote for their Senators.
Four proxies were tendered, two from Kumba II Council, one from Kumba III and one from Mbonge.. Councilors were excited because according to them they were the pioneer voters of Senators in the country. The atmosphere was calm as the SDO for Meme Mr. Koulbout Aman David ensured that the forces of law and order maintain peace in the premises.
The first person to cast his vote that morning was the Mayor of Kumba II Council, Asapngu Ferdinand.
There were three polling stations at the same premises, polling station A had 47 voters, B 50 and C 47. The parties that participated in the Senatorial elections in Meme were the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) and the Social Democratic Front (SDF).
