Army strengthens security measures

After a bloody weekend especially in the Extreme North of the country, the military authorities have decided to strengthen surveillance of persons and border towns in Nigeria.

This was after a high-level security meeting, according to credible sources.

In Chad, five explosions attributed to Boko Haram killed 41 and 50 others were injured at Baga Sola, on Saturday.

Two bombings hit the country this weekend. Sunday, at Kangaleri, in the Department of Mayo-Sava, a double suicide attack attributed to Boko Haram, killed 11 (including 2 suicide bombers) and wounded 29.

Later in the evening, a detachment of the army arrested in the town of Double an individual in possession of weapons and explosives, our source revealed.

On Monday, October 12, another suicide attack at Seradji Kerawa, still attributed to the Nigerian Islamist sect, caused the death of the suicide bomber and left one seriously injured. The young bomber was hunted by the strengthened safety device. Unable to hit her target, the girl exploded her bomb.

In remote communities in Cameroon, the wounded were quickly supported by military doctors, or transported by the military in State health institutions.

The upsurge of attacks suicides in the area of Lake Chad coincides with the operational phase of the Joint Multinational Force (FMM), set on foot by the countries of the Lake Chad basin (Cblt) and Benin Commission.

The FMM is awaiting a UN resolution, prior to its entry into action.
