The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit, Rose Mbah Acha, has challenged financial auditors and other State controllers to effectively and efficiently manage public treasuries.

“The best contribution we can make is to execute the tasks assigned to us in the matter of protection of the public fortune effectively and efficiently. As a result, I invite all, especially auditors and staff in general, to make this institution a reference in achieving our missions through the effective implementation of our flagship programmes which are the diversification, intensification and the fight against harm to the public wealth and punishing unscrupulous managers; and preventing the violations of public wealth,” the Minister said.

Rose Mbah Acha called on all stakeholders to collaborate with other State departments designed to exorcise corruption in the preservation and effective utilisation of public funds.

“We must place ourselves in the vanguard of the fight for relentlessly improving the management of public finances and fight against corruption,” she added.

Mbah Acha says the fight against corruption cannot be the work of a single structure with regard to the complexity and ramifications of this social scourge, reason why she called on all stakeholders to participate in the fight.

She, however, expressed regrets for the diversions and other management mistakes that have hindered the administration from achieving several development projects.

“In this regard, the institution intends to organise training workshops for the internal audit bodies and public credit managers,” she said.

Going by the Minister, the audit areas covered by the roadmap are in coherence with the priority sectors which is not only conceived in the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper, but also the Emergency Plan worth FCFA 1,000 billion intended to accelerate certain sectors in the country.

The Minister said corruption, which is like sea hazards, can be revised through the implementation of stricter measures.

“Therefore, a diversification of intervention methods through the emergency verification, which also provides a less costly operative mode, would be used to address corruption in all social aspects,” she said.

She also did urge auditors to be prudent in the discharge of their duties.
