Authorities at the Douala urban community recently embarked on the removal of shops located at the edge of the road in 'Nyalla Château'.
"I do not understand why they want to do this now, we have been there for a long time," complained a shopkeeper. Some have not even had time to empty their shops before the authorities arrived.
Security forces did the operation which took place at a strategic points being the road sides of the city. The activity caused serious traffic on the high way.
"They could have done this during a less busy hour of the day ", a taxi driver also lamented.
The operation according to authorities aims at releasing Highway rights and to combat urban disorder. They however attributed delayed in operation to rains in the early hours of the day.
