In more than half of the suicide attacks of Boko Haram, girls are the ones who transported and triggered the explosives, according to Amnesty International.

Between July 2015 and July 2016 the Islamic sect Boko Haram has killed 500 civilians in 46 suicide attacks in the Far North Region of Cameroon. This is what emerges from the report by the NGO Amnesty International, published in mid-July 2016 and which overwhelms the Cameroonian army in its fight against Boko Haram.

The Investir au Cameroun magazine points out that, according to the NGO of Human Rights, 67 people have also been killed since 2014 in the Cameroonian security forces.

“In more than half of the suicide attacks of Boko Haram, girls are the ones who transported and triggered the explosives,” writes the international NGO in its report called “good cause, bad means: human rights abuses and justice as part of the fight against Boko Haram in Cameroon. ”

According to the document of the NGO, the terrorist cult that came from neighboring Nigeria has deliberately targeted civilians in attacks against markets, mosques, churches, schools and bus stations.

In the same report, Amnesty International argues that Cameroonian security forces have arbitrarily arrested hundreds of suspected supporters of Boko Haram, based on thin or no evidence, and were detained in inhumane conditions.

“Because of the use of anti-terrorism law and military courts, the procedural safeguards are virtually nonexistent. More than 100 people, including women, were sentenced to death since July 2015 over deeply unfair trials, often without anything actually proving them guilty, “said Amnesty.

The latest Amnesty International report on Cameroon aroused strong reactions in the national opinion. The Government has stepped into the breach to denounce a “biased” report on the actual situation on the ground.
