The philanthropic works of the First Lady and Founding President of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), Mrs Chantal Biya, was once more topical in Bui division of the North West Region on November 17, 2012.
The event was what was described as the demonstration of the goodness and kindness of the First Lady to the rural women and youths of Bui.
Farm tools and inputs were donated to women and youth groups of Oku, Noni, Mbvem,Nkum, Jakiri and Kumbo Sub divisions. It was a hectic day as CERAC celebrated for empowerment of the rural women and youths to start or improve production in their respective areas of activity with less stress in manual labour.
The CERAC gesture is also expected to help curb rural exodus among the youths of Bui who will in turn work to contribute to the development of the nation. In effect, there was a lot to offer the women and youths by the First Lady and UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador. Beneficiary women groups received wheel barrows, atomisers, watering cans, corn mills, dig axes, spades, bags of fertiliser, bags of insecticides, improved maize seedlings, buckets and cartons of soap, among others etc. Beneficiary youth groups took home a motorised oil press, engine saws, motor pumps, maize crushers, push trucks, pairs of boots and hoes, among others while the Kumbo Women's Empowerment Centre also welcomed special gifts that included a freezer, cooker, sewing machines and pressing irons from the First Lady.
On-the-spot in Sop, Jakiri, a huge CERAC team led by its General Coordinator and Special Representative of the Founding President, Mrs. Linda Yang, saluted the humanitarian commitment of Mrs. Chantal Biya whose activities through CERAC project her as a caring mother to all Cameroonians, especially the needy. The rural women and youths of Bui were the chosen lot this time around and Linda Yang said the First Lady remains focused in pursuing humanitarian works with symbolic projects that showcase her goodness and kindness. The gifts constitute a decisive phase in the implementation of CERAC's plan of action.
CERAC's activities are evident in the North West Region, with projects like gifts to the handicapped and the sick of the Mbingo Leprosy Centre, construction/renovation of classrooms and equipment in G.S Finge, Tubah, construction/renovation and equipment of Mbiyeh health Centre in Ndu, equipment of the Mbeme health centre in Awing, Santa, among others. The Bui event ended with grateful beneficiaries acknowledging that the special gesture challenges them to improve production and fight poverty. CERAC's Coordinator General urged the men of Bui and Cameroon to stand by the women and remain an encouraging and driving force for the First Lady's dream to come true.
