Baccalaureate: NW region tops the 2015 ranking

The Lycée de Nkpwang in the Dja and Lobo, Southern Region closes the tail of the 2015 ranking of the Office du Baccalauréat du Cameroun (OBC) with a passing average of 5.36%.

The 2015 examinations session, is the 20th managed by the OBC. During this session of 2015, 1 091 schools of various types and levels of education took part in the competition with 309,033 candidates across all exams. This ranking is based on their success rate nationally, according to the number of successful students, by series, by region, by order and by type of education.

According to the daily newspaper Mutations of Wednesday, May 4, 2016, it is a school of the Sangmelima subdivision, headquarter of the Dja and Lobo division, that ranks last in the ranking done by OBC. It’s the Lycée de Nkpwang, that records an average of 5.36%. Conversely to Collège Jean Tabi in Yaounde, that ranks first in the national ranking with an average of 99.64%.

At regional level, it is the Far North that ranks at the tail, while the Northwest tops, the newspaper said. In addition, this ranking also reports that the number of boys enrolled remains higher than that of girls, or 29,642 against 26,975.

To be ranked in the ranking, the school must meet certain criteria. Among others: being a secondary school with classes of Premiere (Lower sixth) and Terminal (Upper Sixth); be allowed to operate in one or more approved channels of general secondary education or technical secondary education; have at least 60 candidates, informs the newspaper.
