Defense minister, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o has promised Bamenda 202 Air Force base four (4) brand new helicopters. He made this promised while officially commissioning into office four commanding officers of the Cameroonian Army in Bamenda on Friday March 13, 2015.
These birds he said are already in the country and will be in Bamenda on “May 1, 2015, and I will personally be in Bamenda to hand them over.”
To the newly commissioned officers, he enjoined them to use the powers at their disposal to protect the territorial integrity of Cameroon and to protect the people of the northwest and their goods and property.
He said Cameroon has not ceded an inch of its territory to Boko Haram and promised that Boko Haram will be eradicated. He praised the efforts and commitment of the people of the northwest to pledge their support to the head of state and the army in the war against Boko Haram.
Speaking earlier, the Goverment Delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Vincent Ndumu Nji on behalf of the people of the northwest pledged their total support to the arm forces and the head of state in the fight against Boko Haram. he called on the defense boss to reinforce military presence in the region be sending in more personnel.
Those installed included Col. Eyong Tambong Ebot as commander of the 22nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, Col. Tegonya Oscar as commander of the 6th Military Sector, Col. Ngomane Tiseh Thomas as commander of the Bamenda 202 Air Force Base and Col. Bayebe Guy army Commander of the Bamenda Gendarmerie troops.
The event was attended by South Governor, Jules Marceline, the chairman of the SDF and family members of the concerned. The even ended with a march pass of the various detachment of the army.
