Directors of bilingual linguistic centres nationwide are taking part in a conference in Yaounde to build their capacities on the management of such centres.
The Coordinator of the Bilingual Linguistic Training Programme, Prof Georges Echu explained that during the three-day conference from 24th – 26th February 2015, the directors will be going through activity reports and pedagogic problems experienced at different centres. This, he notes, is in a bid to ameliorate output.
According to the Director of the Pilot Linguistic Centre of Yaounde, Guillame Raphael Tchebetchou the meeting will enable the sharing of experiences and exchange of ideas on how to better handle training.
The meeting will also serve as forum for discussion on the management of human, financial and material resources.
The directors explain that another objective of the workshop is to ensure that many more Cameroonians benefit from the services of the bilingual centre in order to improve bilingualism in the country.
In this light, the centres have been equipped with educational materials, photocopy machines and video projectors, amongst others. It should be recalled that some teachers were recently recruited and posted by the Ministry of Secondary Education to the different linguistic centres nationwide as means to improve training.
