It's a little over 6 months after Buea, Southwest Region hosted the 50th anniversary celebration of Cameroon's reunification last February but the number of high profile deaths that has struck the region and particularly the CPDM party remains shocking.

The unwelcomed guest first made away with the life of former CDC Board Chairman Chief Henry Namata Elangwe in the month of March few weeks after the Buea event.

On April 2, the unbelievable news of the death of Senator Lucas Fontem Njifua , president of the Southwest Chiefs conference, member of the Senate Bureau and a central committee member of the ruling CPDM, baffled the entire Region.

Njifua's departure left hundreds of South westerners lip-tight, following his active participation in the 50th anniversary of Cameroon's reunification.

While the Region was still mourning, the wicked hands of death moved from Libialem to Kupe Muaneguba Division; and on Saturday May 24, the sad news of the passing away of Albert Ndille, Inspector General in the Ministry of Finance and a strong patriot of the Biya regime echoed like wild fire.

Few weeks after the death of Ndille, Meme Division got devastating news of the death of its illustrious son, Shadrack Epie Ekale, on June 17, in Ethiopia. The death of Ekale who was the Secretary General of the Southwest Elite Association, SWELA, meant the Region had lost a great son. Besides serving as Secondary Education Delegate for Meme, Ekale actively supported the CPDM gospel.

By July 6, Fako Division got its own share of the monster called death. This time, it took away the life of 39 year old Isaac Dalle Inongo, Mayor to the Limbe III Council. Dalle, until his death, was serving as the youth president of Fako I. The case of Dalle remains painful to the Region given that he died at the apex of his political career after spending just few months in office as Mayor.

Wednesday August 6, the YCPDM National Youth President, Stephen Mbonda Motia, breathe his last at a time no one ever expected. The sudden death of the 45 year old has left many questioning who would be next amidst unanswered questions over the cause of his death, just like that of those who died before him.

Coincidentally, all of the high profile deaths registered this far appear to be die-hard militants of the ruling party that staked a lot to mobilise for the success of the 50th anniversary of Cameroons' reunification.
