President Paul Biya issued a command to Midjiyawa Bakari, the governor of the Far North region, to award members of vigilante committees who neutralized kamikaze bombs and prevented numerous deaths.

In turn, the head of the region visited Bodo (district of Makary, Department of Logone-et-Chari), Kolofata, Mayo-Sava, and Nguetchewé (district of Mayo-Moskota, department of Mayo-Tsanaga), and all the communities of the Far North, over the weekend.

These localities respectively escaped terrorist attacks on 11, 14, 23 and 29 December 2015. The recent one was in Kouyapé on January 13, 2016.

The members of the vigilante committees have been decorated with the Knight's Medal of the Order of Merit of Cameroon. The administrative head handed the money to the wounded and widowers, widows and orphans, a hundred victims of suicide bombings.

These "compensations" by the Head of State is still unable to calm the opposition who continues to demand his presence at the front. President Biya's presence is required to galvanize the troops who have been engaged in the battle against Boko Haram, for nearly two years and for which he is the supreme commander.

The opposition, whose main leaders visited the battered region of the Far North to comfort troops and populations overall, opined that the presence of Biya will help galvanize morale of an entire region scarred by the atrocities of the terrorist group Boko Haram.
