The president of the Republic recently sent a message of comfort and a significant amount of food to the displaced population in the East.

Populations in the Eastern border areas who are largely farmers rarely suffered from famine. But with the influx of Central African refugees, to afford two meals daily has become a luxury.

In this embarrassing situation, the members from the eastern region notified the head of State a few months ago whose reaction was prompt. He recently sent them an important gift which was presented by a delegation led by Honourable Kombo Gberi, vice-president of the National Assembly.

The distribution of these donations began on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in the locality of Guiwa-Yangamo in Ngoura district, Department of Lom-and-Djerem.

These populations received 11 bags of maize, 9 bags of cassava, 12 bags of 50 kg rice, 25 bags of salt, 2 bags of onion, 4 cartons of vegetable oil, 85 boxes of sugar and an ox.

In addition to these foodstuff, the head of State also gave farm implements, including a significant amount of machetes, hoes and limes; to enable them to prepare for the next agricultural season.

On behalf of the beneficiary populations, Michel Mada, the Mayor of Ngoura thanked the head of State for his constant solicitude. After Guiwa-Yangamo, the caravan led by the Kombo Gberi went to Batouri and they ended in Yokadouma.
