One Cameroonian police officer was abducted Monday night by suspected Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram in Cameroon's Far North Region, one military source told Xinhua Tuesday morning.

Ismaila Sago, chief police officer in the police station of Dabanga, a town in Cameroon’s Far North Region neighboring Nigeria, fell into an ambush around 5 p.m. Monday (4 p.m. GMT).

The source said Sago was abducted while he was returning from Kousseri, a town bordering Chad.
