Communication Minister, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who doubles as government Spokesman has said countdown to the total annihilation of the terrorist group, Boko Haram begins Monday, February 16 with the holding of an Extraordinary Summit of the Council for Peace and Security in Central Africa (COPAX) in Yaoundé.
Tchiroma made the declaration to the press last February 14 during a press conference in the Ministry of Communication. He stated that “Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS, and the International Community will during this Yaoundé Summit adopt final strategies to wipe out this group of bandits who claim to belong to a religion by tarnishing the image of the Muslim religion.
No one can claim to belong to a religion and goes on cruelly to kill followers of that religion. Boko Haram is not a religious organization.”
He disclosed that the holding of the ECCAS security meeting in Yaoundé was decided at the end of a consultative meeting held on January 31, 2015, during the 24th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa.
“The summit will materialize the commitment to definitively neutralize this terrorist group, through the adoption of a collective response strategy against Boko Haram.” The Minister stressed.
He said the entire world is appreciating President Biya’s move of spearheading the offensive against Boko Haram.
While calling on the population not to renege support to the President, as well as Cameroon forces who risk their lives daily protecting the country, Tchiroma also appealed to journalists to stand behind the Head of State and the Cameroon Soldiers in the fight against Boko Haram group.
Expected in Yaoundé for the crucial security summit are the Heads of State of the ten ECCAS Member countries – Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome & Principe and Chad – as well as accompanying high level delegations.
