Boko Haram kills police officer on duty

A policeman was killed early Tuesday, 30 December 2014 while on duty in the Far North region.

The police officer identified late this afternoon by sources at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization as Constable Ibrahim Umar, was killed following an attack on a police station near the border with Nigeria by Boko Haram fighters.

Cameroon law enforcement officers have come under heavy artillery fire on the Maroua-Kousseri highway from Boko Haram militants in recent times.
