A pregnant woman in labour is said to have been slain by elements of the Boko Haram sect. She was part of the hundreds of people killed on the 3rd January 2015, considered one of the most destructive and offensive attacks by Boko Haram in their six years of existence.

This information was revealed by Amnesty International, Thursday, January 15, 2015.

During the attack in the town of Baga, located in the northeast of Nigeria (Region where the fighters want to establish a Caliphate), Islamist fighters killed a woman while she was in the process of delivering. "Half of the baby was out when the mother died. She lay lifeless in this position," noted a witness of the defence of the human rights organization.

"So many people perished in this attack. I ran into some Bushes". While we were running, they were still killing, said a witness at Amnesty International. Other witnesses noted that, the street was dotted with decaying corpses.

Sixteen villages were burned and 20,000 people fled the town, according to local officials. About 11,320 of them took refuge in neighbouring Chad in a few days, reported the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

According to the calculations of the NGO, over 3,700 structures were damaged, 620 at Baga and 3,100 at Doron Baga. "The figures could be higher" said the organization.
