The tools are expected to benefit generations of youths in Science studies.

The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) Department of the Faculty of Science in the University of Buea (UB) has received a donation of laboratory and office equipment from INSEARCH, a German-based Cameroonian Academics' NGO. Their declared aim is to help Cameroonian youth acquire better hands-on experience in laboratory science studies.

Dr. Faustin Kamena, President of INSEARCH, handed the equipment to Professor Theresa Nkuo Akenji, Dean of the Faculty of Science, representing UB's Vice Chancellor, on 7 February, 2014. Professor Akenji immediately entrusted the gift to the professional care of Dr. Francis Cho Ngwa, BMB Department Head.

Presiding at the handing over ceremony, Professor Akenji explained that the equipment destined to the BMB Department would equally benefit thousands of users from the Faculties of Science, Agriculture and Health Sciences. She underscored the timeliness of the donation as coming just when UB was breaking grounds in running high-tech professional programmes in the Molecular Biosciences, DNA testing, and the development of modern molecular tools to fight poverty-related infectious diseases.

The Dean praised the donors, INSEARCH, whose current President, Dr. Faustin Kamena, was on hand to ascertain the destination of the hard-earned equipment assembled and controlled in Germany.
