Ansar Burney Trust International Chairman, Ansar Burney has requested the Pakistan government to save the lives of 20 crew members on another PNSC ship ‘MV Multan’ at present anchored at the sea Port of Douala in Cameroon as the country is facing serious deadly virus ‘Ebola’ that has already claimed more than 2,000 lives.
In a press release on Thursday, Burney said that because of deadly ‘Ebola’ disease in Cameroon and other West African countries, roads were unusually quiet and checkpoints manned by heavily armed soldiers thus restricting movement.
Ansar Burney said that under such a serious situation, a Pakistani Bulk Carrier Ship MV Multan, having PNSC flag, with 20 Pakistani crew members had been sent to the sea port of Douala in Cameroon and anchored in deadly virus affected country, where there were no safeguards to prevent them from catching and spreading the disease. He said on the 8th of August, for only the third time, the World Health Organisation declared a “public health emergency of international concern.”
He said Ansar Burney Trust in this regard had already sent SOS letters to President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Ministry of Port and Shipping and PNSC chairman to save the lives of 20 innocent Pakistani crew members on their way back to prevent the spreading of the virus in Pakistan in the worst possible situation.
