The association Cœur d’Afrique donated equipment to the Chantal Biya Mother and Child Hospital in Yaounde on Wednesday March 4, 2015.
Sickle cell anaemic patients in the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde can now heave a sigh of relief. The Roger Milla Foundation has donated equipment for their use, comprising electric medical beds, water filters, mineral water and drugs. They were handed over to the officials of the Chantal Biya Foundation on Wednesday March 4, 2015 in Yaounde.
Speaking at the occasion, the President and Founder of the Association Cœur d’Afrique, His Excellency Roger Milla, said the donation was the fruit of partnership between Cœur d’Afrique and the Association of Parents with Children Suffering from Sickle Cell Anaemia (APED-FCB). He said the objective of the donation was to contribute to the wellbeing of sickle cell patients.
He said the gesture was to support government in health, education and other domains of social life. This gesture, according to him, will not only be limited to the Chantal Biya Foundation, but to other hospitals in the country.
The Director of the Chantal Biya Foundation, Professor Paul Koki Ndombo, said the Roger Milla Foundation has shown great interest in helping the hospital take care of the children.
“I think it will create a new dynamism. Two and a half years ago, the First Lady, Chantal Biya, launched the neonatal screening for sickle cell anaemia. This activity will be increased because we now have additional support from Cœur d’Afrique,” he said.
