The Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) NW President Obah Rose praised female journalists on International Women's Day celebration.

Here is the entire Press Release from The Presidency of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) Northwest on the International Women's Day.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 30th Edition of International Women’s Day, (March 8th 2015), the President of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalist, (CAMASEJ) Northwest Region, Rosaline Obah and her Executive team rejoice with the collaborative partnership existing amongst female journalists and the media in the Northwest.

Enthused by the United Nation’s theme, “Empowering Women Empowering Humanity” and the African Development Bank’s theme, “Make It Happen,” in view of the celebration, we sincerely think that women are a force to reckon with in our world.

These themes inspire us not only to showcase our achievements but more importantly, to look ahead to the untapped potentials and opportunities that await future generations of women.

CAMASEJ North West continues to serve as a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas, while reflecting on acts of courage and determination made by women in the media in the fight for equality and empowerment so far.

Female journalists continue to provide a refreshing breath of air in the media landscape in the Region. Their mouth-watering programs and advocacy for women’s rights is quite commendable.

Ordinary women doing extraordinary things are brought to the limelight. In this way, credit is given where it is due; the development engine is ignited in others as they emulate the examples of these role models.

Most female journalists have laudably deviated from the humdrum of praise singing and objectively combing out our Region to unleash fresh injustices perpetrated against our female folk.

All these they do with eager anticipation that equality between men and women, will be attained in no distant future. KUDOS!!!

However, since no human endeavor is perfect, we are conscious of the fact that a negligible few in the exercise of their noble duties might have been overzealous. For these, we ask for understanding.

We exhort female journalists on this day more than ever to “Make It Happen” in action, empowering women as the United Nation’s theme for this year’s celebration indicates, we are empowering humanity.

This lofty goal can be achieved if female journalists display sterling professional qualities in the execution of their noble duties. We also implore all media houses and society at large to give female journalists equal opportunities because they have the capabilities of leading this nation to its potential plentitude and giving women folk an edifying image.

Happy Women’s Day dear female journalist, Happy Women’s Day, to all women!
