The 17th professorial examination of the African and Malagasy Council of Higher Education (CAMES) is ongoing in Yaounde.
Close to 200 candidates (including ten Cameroonians) from 19 African countries shall be sitting for the professional examination in Human Medicine, Pharmacy, Odontostomatology, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production.
Candidates will begin writing as from 3pm this 3rd November 2014 at the University of Yaounde I campus under the coordination of the Rector of the University, Prof Maurice Aurelien Sosso.
Successful candidates at the end of the examination will become full professors in their domains.
Candidates will be assessed by 158 jury members from Africa and Europe and results proclaimed during the closing ceremony on 11th November 2014.
The organising committee of the examination is being presided over by the Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo in partnership with his Public Health counterpart, Andre Mama Fouda.
The CAMES professorial examination comes up following a protocol of agreement signed between Cameroon and CAMES on the 3rd of January 2014.
The birth of the African and Malagasy Council of Higher Education (CAMES) dates back to 26th April 1972, when the convention leading to its establishment was signed in Lome, Togo by 16 heads of states.
CAMES is presently made up of 19 member states.
