The Cameron Baptist Convention CBC has resolved to create a university.
This was one of the resolutions were taken during the 28th General Session of the CBC that held in Bamenda.
The university, it was said, will foster the education of not only children of CBC Christians, but will benefit all who cherish Christian education.
A committee has been charged with this task to ensure that the university goes operational in four years.
Strategies were also put in place to ensure regular salary of CBC teachers, since government subventions are not only irregular, but too small to salvage the precarious situation of teachers, salary scale of pastors be made available in all the churches, and for all Baptist Christians to send their children to CBC schools.
It was also recommended that all CBC Fields must have a data bank to know the number of Christians in all the churches under their jurisdiction.
In his welcome speech, CBC Chairperson, Joe Chebonkeng, called on all to know who they are, where they are coming from and where they are going to.
He challenged all to strive for heavenly honours and to always pray for their compatriots in North Cameroon.
Talking to reporters, CBC Executive President, Rev. Godwill Ncham, said the CBC will be stronger, if Christians reconcile and consider one another as God’s children.
“Transforming our lives and that of the community is our goal, which is why the session has as theme; “A Church for the Community,” Rev. Ncham said.
To him, a church needs to be the light to the community so that, through its works, lives would be transformed. “But if the church is divided, the goal will never be achieved.”
He recalled his trip to the North of Cameroon. “I am just from the North and it’s a big challenge there. That is why I believe that together, we can pray for our nation and God will work miracles.”
He exhorted all to pray for those affected by the challenges of Boko Haram. He said the CBC has begun lending a helping hand to those affected.
Representing Northwest Governor, Absolom Monono, appreciated the work CBC is doing in nation building, especially in assisting the State in molding the lives of Cameroonians both spiritually and morally.
The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, Ni John Fru Ndi, expressed gratitude to the CBC for the good schools, health units they have been providing for Cameroonians.
According to him, if these amenities are taken away, Cameroon would be another species of an ape.
He told the audience to look at their lives before looking at those of others as Christians are now looking for shortcuts to heaven.
“Many believe in breakthroughs and prophecies from men of God”, Fru Ndi said.
To the SDF Chieftain, Christians should pray to God who knows everyone. “Let’s pray for Gods will to be done in our lives,” Fru Ndi stated.
At the end of the conference, a new executive was elected with Rev. Godlove Ncham as President, John Yiosemom Mkong as Chairman, Vice Chairman Job Nyanganji, Chairman Men’s Committee Department, Edison Yuniwo, Chairman of Youth Committee Rene Kwalar and Margrate Chai, Women’s Committee Chair
