Officials of the Circle of the Friends of Cameroon and “Fondation Conde Djene Kaba pour la promotion de la santé maternelle et infantile,” met in Yaounde yesterday, July 13, 2016.

The visiting delegation from Guinea Conakry on a study tour of institutions founded by Cameroon’s First Lady, Mrs. Chantal Biya, yesterday, July 13, 2016, made a stopover at the Circle of the Friends of Cameroon, CERAC in Yaounde.

Dr Karfalla Kaba, Executive Director of “Fondation Conde Djene Kaba pour la promotion de la santé maternelle et infantile,” FCDK-PROSMI, and Dr Piou Gamet Beavogui, Officer in charge of Programmes, met CERAC officials.

Their visit to Cameroon, which began on began on July 11, 2016, is on behalf of Mrs. Djene Conde Kaba, the First Lady of Guinea Conakry. Speaking earlier on July 11 during a visit to African Synergy Against AIDS and Suffering, the Guinean guests explained the activities of FCDK-PROSMI.

These include running an amusement park for children and nursery school/day care centre, HIV prevention and awareness, offering stationery to keep children from poor families in school and promoting girl child education.

The foundation also supports Ebola and female genital mutilation victims, engages in environmental protection, and constructs and equips health centres.

On the other hand, the Circle of the Friends of Cameroon was founded by Mrs. Chantal Biya, who is also UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, to take active part in the development of Cameroon by delivering much-needed assistance to the most vulnerable groups.

Since its inception in 1995, CERAC has been working throughout the country, paying visits to patients, building schools to ensure the education of young Cameroonians, making donations to various hospitals and schools, etc.

It also assists during natural disasters, alleviates all forms of hardship and provides HIV/AIDS education. Thus, the activities of the Cameroonian and Guinea Conakry First Ladies have much in common.
